Edward Harvey Jr.

Edward Dale Harvey Jr., 59, went to the Lord on Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Mercy Hospital. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday July 6, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Burial will occur 2 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Prairie City.
Edward was born February 18, 1948 to Edward and Patricia Harvey in Des Moines. He graduated from East High School and was a true Eastsider. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a dedicated life member of the AMVETS Post #2. Edward worked with his father at Harvey Sand and Gravel, a family owned business for many years and has been employed at Stetson Building Products for the past 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing his guitar, listening to his favorite music, and spending time with his family and friends. Edward was an avid Vikings fan, win or lose and was loved and respected by all who knew him.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Rosetta Jean Harvey of Des Moines; daughters, Melissa Cochrane (Charlie) of Des Moines, Jayna Shoemaker (Donald) of Carlisle, and Bethann Dunn (Gene) of Des Moines; sons, Edward Harvey III (Sara) of Ames and Kenneth Harvey (Samantha) of Des Moines; sisters, Janet Sprague (Kenneth) and Carol Streeper-Jordon, both of Des Moines; brothers, Kevin Harvey (Linda) of Des Moines and Gary Harvey of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 15 grandchildren; a host of nieces; nephews; other family members; and beloved friends.
He was preceded in death by parents, Edward and Patricia Harvey; and sister, Jayna. He is loved dearly and will be missed by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 3-9 p.m. with family present from 6-9 p.m. on Thursday, July 5, 2007 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family.
