Olive Howard

Olive B. Howard, 100, passed away peacefully Saturday, June 30, 2007 at Fleur Heights Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1pm Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St., with burial to follow at Motor Cemetery in Motor, Iowa.
Olive was born July 17, 1906 in Warren County, the daughter of Henry and Elva (Sams) Bassett. She retired as a Switchboard Operator for the Federal Government after many years of faithful service. In 1993, Olive received the Volunteer of the Year Award through the United Way Retired and Senior Volunteer Program for 14 years of service.
Olive is survived by her loving family, daughters, Clarice Penley and Joan (Gerald) Anderson, all of Des Moines; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren and sister, Melva Gillum of Phoenix, Arizona. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Theo E. Howard; daughter, Carolyn Howard; 2 brothers and 1 sister.
The family will receive friends from 6-8pm Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at the funeral home.
