Herbert Pierce

Herbert Pierce, 82, died Saturday, February 2, 2013. Herbert was born on December 18, 1930, in Van Meter, Iowa, to Nellie (Wright) and Earl Pierce.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2013, at Park Avenue Christian Church, 3219 SW 9th Street. Burial will follow the service at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Family will greet friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 7, at the church.

Herbert was an active member of the Isaac Walton League. He also served his country proudly in the United States Navy during the Korean War.

Herbert is survived by his daughters, Jonell (Chris) Bolten, Allison (Doug) Clemons, and Charlotte (Michael) Brown; his grandchildren, Richard Battanti, Anson Pierce, Laura Pierce, Nathaniel Battanti, and Zachery Brown; and sisters, Vivian Rhoades and Janice McGee.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Delores, his parents, five brothers, and two sisters.
