Charlene Grim passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 2, 2013, at Mercy Hospital. Charlene was born on May 30, 1948, in Des Moines to Ted, Sr., and Lorrene Ashley.
Charlene enjoyed BINGO and going to the casinos. She loved her family – especially being a grandma!
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Thursday, February 7, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. Family will greet friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 6, at the funeral Home.
Charlene is survived by her children, Leslie (Billy Mumford) Grim, Shelley (Antonio Schmidt) Reimers, and Dustin (Echo Kern) Grim; children in-law, Don Reimers and Rose Grim; fifteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brothers, Dean Ashley and Ted (Jackie) Ashley; sisters, Charlotte (Mick) Iaria and Babe (Jerry) Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George; her brother, Larry; and her grandson, Dustin, Jr.

Charlie will be missed; always enjoyed her happy attitude and was always very helpful in EMC's cafeteria. My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends.

To Charlie's closest friends and family, I offer my deepest sympathies. I looked forward to seeing Charlie in the EMC Cafeteria. Always had a smile on her face and very pleasant. The world is a little colder place without her warm heart.

Was shocked and saddened to learn today of Charlie's passing. I worked in the EMC Building and saw Charlie every day. She was always so pleasant and funny and a breath of fresh air. I shall miss her. Thoughts and prayers to her family and may God bless her.

So surprised by the news and soooo sorry for your loss. I worked in same building as Charlie and saw her when I would go to the EMC Cafeteria. She was always smiling, always fun and always helpful. She will be deeply missed. Keeping all of you in our thoughts and prayers.

Shocked and saddened by this news. Charlie WAS the EMC Cafeteria - always had a smile and warm greeting, she knew everyone who worked in the EMC Building and used the cafeteria, I looked forward to seeing her every day at lunchtime. RIP, Charlie - you will be greatly missed.

I am so sorry for your loss, and I was so sad to hear of Charlie's passing this morning. I work in the same building as she did, and she was always a bright spot in the day when we would go down to get our lunch - always smiling, friendly and she knew everyone's name. We are really going to miss her. Keeping your family in our prayers.

I saw you almost everyday working at EMC, and you were always so cheerful and sweet. You will be missed so very much. Prayers to the family, please know what a blessing and a ray of sunshine she was to many people here.

It was so hard to let you go and i still keep wandering if thats what was best, but i know it was you had been through enough and it was time for you to be at peace. Now you can rest and be with dad again and you dont have to struggle. Im so glad that I got that hug and kiss and got to tell you I love you. Rest in peace mom I love you and will miss you everyday.Just keep in touch every now and then.
