Daniel Dennis

Daniel Dewey Dennis, 79, passed away Wednesday, January 30, 2013, at Trinity Center at Luther Park. He was born March 18, 1933, in Harvey, Iowa, the son of William and Wilhemina Dennis.

Daniel graduated from East High School in 1951, and joined the Army National Guard where he served five years. He then attended Drake University and the Chicago Art Institute. Daniel worked for Union Pacific Railroad and retired after 42 years of service. He enjoyed the outdoors, landscaping, painting, and drawing. Daniel attended church at Bethany New Life Christian Fellowship.

Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sherril; daughter, Martha (John) Schrier of Traer, IA, son, Daniel (Dana) Dennis of State Center, IA; grandchildren, Troy Stuflick, Sarah Schrier, Ryan Northway, Olivia Schrier, Darien Dennis, Michael Schrier, Elizabeth Dennis; great-grandchildren, Peyton and Rylan Stuflick. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Lorraine Northway; his parents; three sisters; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial following at Warren Powers Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bethany New Life Christian Fellowship Building Fund in loving memory of Daniel.
