Elsa Ingeborg Morrison, 97, died Saturday, January 26, 2013. Elsa, daughter of Swedish immigrants, Nels and Alma Carlson Kjellberg was born June 14, 1915, in Ruthven, Iowa. She graduated from Ruthven high school in 1932. After graduation Elsa worked in home care at Spencer, Iowa. She moved to Des Moines, Iowa in 1945 to begin a career as a dental technician which she continued with for the next 25 years.

Elsa was married to Fred Morrison in 1951. After Elsa’s retirement as a dental technician, she worked for a medical business bureau doing collections for a period of time. Her parents emigrated from Sweden in 1911 and 1912. Elsa enjoyed a trip to Sweden in 1972 to visit her relatives. She has been a member of St. John’s Lutheran church of Des Moines since 1952.

Elsa was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred in 1969; her siblings, Oscar 1998, Astrid 1996, Marvin 1977, Carl Hugo 1938, and Anna Louise in 1928.

Elsa is survived by a sister-in-law, Janet Kjellberg of Des Moines; nieces and nephews, Betty (Wally) Jardine, Ernest (Cheryl) Weatherington, Nancy Jo (Darwin) Krumrey, Roger (Shirley) Kjellberg, Cynthia (Mike) Fuson, Stephen (Kathy) Kjellberg; and many grand nieces, nephews, and friends.

Services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Burial of her cremated remains will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
