Thomas Burgett

Thomas A. Burgett, 68, passed away peacefully in his home on January 26, 2013. He was born in Omaha, NE, and moved to the Des Moines area as a child. He served in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1968 and was at that time stationed in Korea. Tom worked his entire career in the grocery business, the past 13 years for HyVee on Fleur. A lifelong Chicago Cubs fan, Tom enjoyed fishing and family, and the many trips he had been able to go on over the past several years.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sandy; sons, Thomas (Brenda), Brian (Kim), Brad; ten grandchildren; mother, Mabel; sisters, Betty Rounds, Bonnie (Russ) Cogley and brother, Bob (Valerie). He was preceded in death by his father, Jerry; brother, Jerry; and sister, Bev.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Thursday, January 31, 2013, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Elm Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, at the funeral home.
