Service Details

Allan Dale Hudson, 76, passed away on January 21, 2013.

Allan was one of four brothers born in Des Moines, Iowa, to Melvin and Edith Hudson. Allan is survived by his loving wife Sue, his children Matthew (Erin) Hudson and Hollee (James) Schneiderman, grandchildren Jack Hudson Schneiderman, Maxwell Bing Schneiderman, Sawyer Augustus Hudson, and Georgia Calliope Hudson, and his brothers Roger and Robert. He was predeceased by his brother Mark who held a special place in Allan’s heart.

Memorial services will be held in the Spring with details to follow.

Allan was an Air Force Veteran and specialized in translating Russian and German. Allan traveled the world on business and loved every minute of his adventures. He was more interested in life’s experiences than its extravagances. Through his work with agricultural equipment he was issued two patents, and was one of the first Westerners invited into the People’s Republic of China in the 1970s. His work allowed him to help other countries improve their way of life through agricultural advancements. He also loved spending time with his children and grandchildren and travelling with his wife.

Allan was loved and respected by most if not all who knew him. Allan was an exceptional water-colorist and appreciated the opportunity to paint in honor of his grandchildren. He enjoyed playing poker with his friends, and Iowa Hawkeye athletics. Allan encouraged his children to be aware of issues on a global scale, encouraged them to travel and show graciousness and reverence to different cultures. Allan’s life was a long, interesting journey full of taken opportunities.

Memorial contributions may be sent to Union Park Baptist Church, 821 Arthur Avenue, Des Moines, IA 50316, and please designate any contributions to either Camp Scholarship Fund or Youth Mission Trips Fund, as Allan was especially fond of travel and would have enjoyed helping some needy children see a bit more of the world than they normally would be allowed.
