Kelly Joe "Shorty" Schnoor

Kelly Joe “Shorty” Schnoor, 53, passed away peacefully at his home Wednesday, January 16, 2013.

Kelly was born February 26, 1959, in Des Moines, and raised by Robert and Sallie (Lyon) Roark. He graduated from Des Moines Tech and from Lincoln Technical Institute. Kelly worked at various McDonalds in the Des Moines area. He enjoyed spending time with his family and his puppies, Rowdy and Little Bit, and his cat, Tigger. He also loved motorcycles.

Kelly is survived by his wife of 13 years, Cynthia; brother, Kerry (Tammy) Roark; sisters, Bambi (David) Martin and Pamela Sue (Adan) Garcia; step-children, Chad (Maranda) Harvey, Justin Harvey, Erin Richey, and Paige Harvey; six grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his maternal grandparents, Homer and Vera Lyon.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
