Service Details

Dorothy Irene (Seymour) Sinclair, 94, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Polk City Nursing and Rehab.

Graveside services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, January 18, 2013, at the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.

Dorothy was born on March 21, 1918, in Princeton, Missouri, and moved to Des Moines in 1941 along with her husband, Paul Sinclair. She was primarily a homemaker, but Dorothy also managed several apartments at her residence at 11th and Clark before moving to 39th and Madison. She was a long-time member of the Acanthus Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and St. John’s Lutheran Church.

To all who knew Dorothy, she was an unforgettable character that will long be remembered by family, friends and acquaintances for her quick wit, strong opinions, and sometimes sharp tongue. The Bible says, God will wipe away all tears and there will be no more sorrow and no more pain, and we will find even more peace and tranquility in heaven than she knew in this life.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Martin Joseph “Joe” (LaDonna) Sinclair of Branson, Missouri; her stepson, Henry (Sandy) Sinclair of Des Moines; eight grandchildren; and a multitude of great- and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; son, John Sinclair; and daughter, Sharon Thomas.

In lieu of flowers, any memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Des Moines.
