Eula M. Varner

Eula Mae Varner was born August 10, 1924, in Newton, Iowa, and passed away on January 13, 2013, in West Des Moines, Iowa.

She worked for Standard Oil and Massey Ferguson, and she retired in 1984.

Everyone who knew Eula knew her favorite pastimes were smoking, gambling, and traveling. She also enjoyed going out to eat.

Eula is survived by her nephews and nieces, David Larrison, Fred Larrison (Catherine Smith), Terry Larison (Brenda), Karen Moore, Gary (Kathy) Varner, Bob (Vera) Varner, Vivian Dobson, and Phyllis Rhyme; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 9 a.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, followed by burial at Palo Alto Cemetery in Newton, Iowa. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service Wednesday, at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to a charity, organization, or church in Eula’s memory.

The family wishes to express its sincere appreciation to the staff members at Heritage Court, Fountain West, and Iowa Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
