Harold C. Davis
January 13, 2013
Harold C. Davis, 90, passed away on Sunday, January 13, 2013. Services will be held Friday, January 18, 2013, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. The service will be held at 2:00 p.m., and the visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery.
Harold was born on June 27, 1922, in Redfield, IA, to Carl and Gladys Davis. He proudly served in the US Navy and then attended the University of Iowa. Though he worked for Briggs Transportation for 20 years, Harold had many interests and talents. He tried out with the St. Louis Cardinals for a catcher position. He enjoyed wrestling at a professional level but declined to participate in the WWF as he considered it an “act” and not professional wrestling. He also worked as a farmer, a bus driver, and a taxi driver. Harold married the love of his life, Twyla Stodden, in Adel, IA, in 1946. The couple lived in various locations over the years, including Iowa City, Cedar Rapids, and Des Moines. Harold enjoyed boating, water skiing, and auto racing.
He is survived by his son, Ron (Terri) Davis; daughter, Jaxine “Jackie” Finnell; grandchildren, Brian Davis, Bradley (Tina) Davis, Kenneth Smith, Brenda Munden, and Angel (Scott) Richardson; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Munden and Kasen Richardson; and brother, Loren Davis. Harold was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Twyla, who passed on November 18, 2012.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Wounded Warrior Project, 230 W. Monroe St., Suite 200, Chicago, IL 60606.

Ron & Jackie, as a youngster, 13 yrs Harold's junior, I loved listening to his stories of the war, watching him swim in the Adel pool, playing catch with my older Brothers, Bob & Raymond. I admired him a great deal, because he always was kind to a brat kid like me, who looked up to a cousin that was so big and strong. My memory of him is not of the older man in the twilight of his life, but as a young, strong and healthy adult.
I am very proud to have known Harold and Twyla. I am sorry for the grief you two and your families are going through. My prayers are that you will celebrate their lives for years to come.
Love, Gerald Davis

Hi, Ron and Jackie,
We are very sorry about your losing your Mother last November and your Father a few days ago. We believe they are happily together again forever. Harold was a good husband taking care of Twyla during all of her health issues.
Love, Bob and Phyllis Davis
