Desiree A. "Dez" Messerli
January 07, 2013
Desiree was born on June 26, 1987. She died on January 7, 2013.
Everyone who knew her loved her and we will miss her so much.
Dez (as her friends and family knew her) was full of life. She had the kind of sharp, clever wit that made people look forward to hearing whatever she would say next. She was always smiling that contagious smile. She had a way about her that made people want to be her friend. Dez was a hard worker whom her employers counted on. She was very passionate about life: about her friends, her family, and her cats. Dez was a “one of a kind” person who, although she gave the impression of being tough as nails, had a very tender heart.
Dez was a great lover of people and sought that in her own life as well. She is survived by partner, Tessa Goforth; her mother, Susan, and step-father Art Lischer; grandparents, Paul & Benita Messerli, and Nelda Porter; step-brother, Steven Lischer; and many cousins, uncles and aunts who loved her and will dearly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street in Des Moines. A visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until service time. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, at Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family in loving memory of Dez.

Susan and Art,
I am so sorry for your loss. I did get to know Dez some when we all went to Vegas together, and she is just like you, susan! I couldnt wait to hear what came out of her mouth every time i talked to her, just like you. Susan, I consider you one of my very close friends (even though we dont get to see each other as much as we should) and my heart breaks for you. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers! If you need anything at all, day or night, i am here for you.

Susan and Art,
Im very sorry for your loss. Although I had little chance to know Dez in recent years, I remember her as sweet, happy kid on those occasions where we did get together at family re-unions. Our thoughts are with you at this hour.

Susan and Art, you know how much I love you and how blessed I feel, that God has put you in my life. Therefore, I have the constant need to want to take your pain away. However, knowing that is not possible, I will at least be there for you for as much and as long as you need me, to help you work through the horrible pain and sadness I know you are going through. Each time before I see you, I often think of some words I can say of how immensley sad and sorry I am of the loss of that most beautiful, funny and full of life girl of yours...but there are absolutely no words to describe how incredibly sorry I am...I knew Dez for a short time, I wished I'd had the pleasure of knowing her longer, she is such a cool individual. I was so impressed with her, when I first met her and remember thinking..OMG, she is a clone of her mama...lol I really did think that...personalities...just the same...magnetic! I would like to hear more stories of her in the future....keep her fun-loving spirit and all the good memories alive!! Please know, that all the friends whom love you and Art so, will always be here for you, now and it the future to come...to help you make each and every day a little easier....Dez will never be forgotten, she left too much of an impact on the people she's touched in this lifetime....whether they knew her for a long time or a short time...it doesn't matter. We love you, Art, and Tessa too, very much. xxxooo With all my love, Jena
