Robert Sommars

Robert “Bob” Sommars II, 66, was born September 10, 1946, in Des Moines, the son of Mildred Greene and Robert Sommars I. He passed away Sunday, January 6, 2013, at home.

Bob proudly served his country in the Army and he retired from Polk County. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Esther “Goldie” Sommars; children, Kenneth (Elizabeth) Sommars, Melissa Macken, Robert Louis Sommars III, Shane (Brenda) Sommars, and Nicole (Keith) Krupp; 13 grandchildren; siblings, Jeri Sommars, Tim Sommars, Shelly Clark, Mike Flannery, and Dan Flannery; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; and many special friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sharon Barnes and his brother, Ted Sommars.

Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 12, 2013, at Hope Lutheran Church, 3857 E. 42nd Street in Des Moines. Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Bob.
