Laura Hotchkiss
January 03, 2013
Laura Lynn Hotchkiss, age 48, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2013. Born February 29, 1964, to Gerald and Dianne Peck in Des Moines, IA, she has parted this world after celebrating only 12 birthdays, having been born on a leap day – entirely too few for such a lovely and loving woman.
She shared a penchant for gag gifts and toys with her late Grandmother, Lillian Schumacher, which would put a smile on anyone’s face. Having initially given up her college education to raise her children, she proudly graduated with an ADN in May of 2008, and was a licensed Registered Nurse. Throughout her life she had the opportunity to share her love with a multitude of people. As anyone who knew her will say, such sweet and earnest souls are rare to come across, and she will be remembered as such by her loving husband, children, grandchildren, and many friends.
There was a visitation Monday, January 7, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Collierville Funeral Home, in Collierville TN, and a memorial service on Tuesday January 8, 2013, at Central Church, in Collierville, starting at 2:00 pm.
For those that knew and loved her, we ask that donations be made to the local humane society in her name in lieu of flowers, so she can continue to care for animals as she always had a penchant to do.
Her funeral will be held at 11:00 am in Des Moines, Iowa, on Saturday January 12, 2013, at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepard. Visitation will begin at 10:00 at the church. Internment will take place at Avon Cemetery.
Laurie is survived by: her husband Anthony “Tony” Hotchkiss; daughter and son-in-law Amber & Derek Gordon, and their daughter Payten Lynn; son Aric Hotchkiss; parents Gerald and Diane Peck; as well as a grandfather, brother and sister, and many loved cousins, nephews and nieces.

To the Hotchkiss family,
I am deeply saddened to hear about the loss of Laura. She will be missed dearly, but is lucky to be survived by such a wonderful family. It has been some time since I have seen you all, but that does not take away from what your family means to me. Sorry i will not be able to make the service, but you will all be in my prayers & thoughts. May god strengthen all of you, and help you through your time of sadness.
Heaven holds the faithful departed.
