Norleen L. "Cookie" Formaro

Norleen “Cookie” Formaro, 60, was born in Rapid City, SD, on September 17, 1952. She celebrated her life until January 3, 2013, when the Lord called her home. Cookie attended Abraham Lincoln High School. She worked as an Environmental Supervisor at Broadlawns Medical Center for 17 years and at Iowa Methodist Medical Center for 7 years. Cookie brightened every room she entered and was instantly loved by all. She loved her family, dogs, the Iowa Hawkeyes, singing, and laughing.
Cookie is preceded in death by her father: Billy Anschutz, of Rapid City, SD. Cookie is survived by four children: Daniel, Mark, Matthew and Joshua, of Des Moines; eight grandchildren: Gary, Kieffer, Mark Jr., Lacey, Matthew Jr., Daniel Jr., Marissa, and Justin, of Des Moines; one great-grandchild: Baby Carter, of Des Moines; mother: Sherry Abild, of Phoenix, AZ; sister: Sherryl (Randy) Link, of Phoenix, AZ; two nieces: Shannon Link, of Chicago, IL, and Ashlee (Jeremy) Doan, of Bismarck, ND.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made out to Iowa Chapter Autism Society of America (ASA) and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA).
Visitation will be held at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway, West Des Moines, from 5 to 8 p.m., Friday, January 11, 2013, and services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, January 12, at the same location.
She truly was one-of-a-kind and will be deeply missed.

I didn't know cookie that long but I work at Iowa Methodist hospital she was a very nice and she always made me laugh my prayers go out to the family god bless.

You may not remember me but I worked with most of the family at Modern Improvement and then worked with Cookie at Broadlawns. Cookie was a huge personality and will be missed by her many, many friends. My prayers are with all the family during this time of loss. RIP My Friend.

To all of the Formaro family and the Link families, I am so sorry to hear of your loss!! I know Sherryl will miss her terribly, as well as her girls. She was always the "constant" in Sherryl's life,... and her only sister. I pray that the family will remember the good times. Rest in Peace, Cookie!
