Evelyn Juanita Aubrey, 94, passed away Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at Valley View Village.
Evelyn was born October 21, 1918, in Ottumwa, Iowa, to Harry and Pearl Smith. She retired from the State of Iowa in 1979, where she had been a Public Safety Officer for over 18 years. Evelyn was a member of Staves Memorial United Methodist Church and the Eastern Star. She enjoyed playing cards and bingo.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Sandy (Chuck) Hudnall, Michael (Barb) Aubrey and Jean (Jim) Gorham; sisters, Maggie Swartz and LaVaun Balke; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, W. Dean Aubrey; son, Gary Aubrey; daughter, Patricia Scott; and grandsons, Jeff and David Scott.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 9, 2013, at Staves Memorial United Methodist Church, 2747 E. Madison Avenue. A private family burial will take place at a later date.

Great Aunt Evelyn was always so fond of me as I was of her. She was always so much fun! I will miss her greatly!

I was Evelyn's neighbor at Stover Heights and I'm sorry to hear of her passing. My late husband, Ray, and I, played cards with your mom, along with Mary Lyons at our homes and at the Norwoodville Center. We had good times together.
