Barbara Goode

Barbara Goode, 86, passed away peacefully at The Taylor House Hospice. Barbara was born May 5, 1926, in Carlisle, Iowa, the daughter of Red and Ruby Keeney. She was a graduate of Carlisle High School and worked as an administrative assistant. She married Dr. D.V. Goode in 1952, and has resided in Bondurant. Barbara will be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend, and Iowa Hawkeye fan. She was known for her kindness and warmth, and made all who knew her feel welcome and loved. Some would even say she was the nicest person they have ever met. Family members will cherish the memories of her beautiful singing voice, Santa bags at Christmas, and her Iowa tailgate parties.

She is survived by her son, Rusty (Jody) of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Vicki (Andy) of LaCrosse, WI; son, Don (Barb) of Brainerd, MN; daughter-in-law, Colleen of Westminister, CO; sister, Aileen of Glen Ellyn, IL; sister-in-law, Norma of Carlisle, IA; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. DeWitt Goode; parents, Red and Ruby Keeney; son, Duane Goode; sister, Sharon Shephard; and brother, Larry Keeney.

The family will greet visitors at the Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW in Altoona, on Friday, January 4, 2013, from 5 to 7 p.m. It was Barbara’s wish that there be a private family grave-side service at the Bondurant Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bondurant Christian Church or The Taylor House Hospice.
