Lynn E. Hubbs
December 22, 2012
Lynn Hubbs, 55, left us to be with the Lord on December 22, 2012, being a hero. While driving a bus full of college students he experienced health issues, but before his death occurred he was able to safely drive the bus off the road and to a stop, saving many lives.
Lynn was born in Des Moines to Della and Lee Hubbs on December 25, 1956.
He took great joy in providing for his family. He was a wonderful son, father, husband, brother, and grandfather. More important than any of those, he was a hero, dedicating his life to save and protect others. He has truly touched the lives of many.
Lynn completed schooling to pursue his passion. He became a reserve police officer for Des Moines in 2000, dedicating his life to serve others. Lynn also enjoyed being a funeral escort and driving bus for Trans Iowa.
He enjoyed NASCAR, hunting, and riding motorcycles. He was a member of the Blue Knights, with whom he loved to ride and socialize. Lynn also enjoyed traveling, seeing most of the country through his journeys.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 31 years, Doreen; two beautiful children, Heather Riccio and Mathhew Hubbs; granddaughters, Alexis, Brooke, and Kerrine; sister, LeAnna Wood; and many other loving family and friends.
Lynn is now reunited with his parents, and his brother, Lonnie Hubbs.
A celebration of his life will be held 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 28, 2012, at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway. Visitation will occur Thursday evening from 4 – 8 pm at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward the family in loving memory of Lynn.
