Roland Jackie “Jack” Simpson, 84, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. No services are planned at this time.

Jack was born May 23, 1928, in Lamoni, Iowa, to Art and Irene Simpson. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 to 1952, during the Korean War, and in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1953. Jack worked at the V.A. Hospital in Knoxville for five years, then went to work at North High School in Des Moines, where he served as a custodian for 20 years. He enjoyed fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.

Jack is survived by his children, Ricky Simpson and his wife, Tammy, of Osceola, Iowa, Paul Simpson and his wife, Paula, of Lamoni, Iowa, Charlene Wall of Montana, Tammy Langager of Des Moines, Julie Stroh and her husband, Glenn, of Montana, Laura Parker and her husband, Thomas, of Montana, Eric Simpson of Osceola, Iowa, Rolana Potter of Des Moines and Roland Farnsworth and his wife, Stephanie, of Des Moines; best friends of 38 years, Kittie Farnsworth and Chip Chapin; 27 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Jaunita Grandstaff of Des Moines; and his brother, Donnie Simpson of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Faron Simpson; and his brothers, Keith, Eldon and Gordon Simpson.
