LaVerne Jane Manning, 83, passed away Friday, December 21, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center. She was born March 9, 1929, in Ankeny, Iowa, to Henry and Viola Lint. LaVerne was a charter member of Ankeny Baptist Church, and most recently attended Grace Church. She started the Christians Alone and Amazing Grace singles groups.

LaVerne is survived by her husband, James Manning; children, Daniel (Phyllis) Stoll, Jacque (Donnie) Griggs, and Donald (Becky) Stoll; step-children, Randy Manning and Suzanne Manning; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Goldie Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, John and Frank; sister, Ruth; and step-children, Debra K. Manning, Christine Anne Manning, and Diane Marie Manning.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, December 24, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Monday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
