Doris V. Starcevich

Doris V. Starcevich, 94, died Wednesday, December 19, 2012. Services will be held at Hamilton’s on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines, on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines.

Doris was born on May 8, 1918, to John and Edith Samuelson, in Madrid, IA, where she spent her childhood. She lived most of her adult life in Des Moines, and worked as a Payroll Clerk for Farm Bureau Life Insurance for over 25 years. She enjoyed traveling, creating ceramic projects, shopping, and spending time with her family and friends. Doris was also long-time member of St. Peter’s and Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She will be greatly missed by her children, Don (Buffy Heatherton) Starcevich, and Darla (Larry) Dybvad; grandchildren, Michael Starcevich, Pamela (Ron) Wylie, Scott (Hava) Dybvad, Donald (Deb) Starcevich and Kim (Chuck) Toms; great-grandchildren, C.J., Jakob, Shawn, Megan, Kyle, Luke, and Shane; great-great grandson, Aidyn; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Samuelson. Doris was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Rudy; and brother, Darwin Samuelson.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Senior Dreams Foundation at the Woodlands or to Sacred Heart Church.
