Mary Jane Boone
December 18, 2012
Mary passed away peacefully on December 18, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. God gently took her home to join the love of her life Marvin.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 22, 2012, at Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Drive, Des Moines.
Mary Jane was born to Delbert & Jeanette (Floden ) Dagle on November 14, 1939, in Des Moines, Iowa. As a young woman she moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa, where she met her soul mate and the love of her life Marvin LeRoy Boone, and they were married on May 20, 1956. Marvin and Mary celebrated life to the fullest enjoying camping, traveling, square dancing, boating, friends, and family, but most of all they loved to entertain at their lake home at Sun Valley Lake.
Mary ran Reed's Ice Cream Store for many years, before working for the Des Moines Public Schools during many terms as President of the PT,A and the advocate for Children's Safety as the Safety Bug, securing safe crosswalks around many schools.
Mary is survived by daughter Melissa (Jim) LaFon, son Mark (Abby) Boone, eight grandchildren, Ben, Brad, Brandon, Cody, Nick, Haley, Savannah Mary, and Dallas; three great-grandchildren, Sammy, Jada, and Madison; and many nieces and nephews who are very dear to her heart.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Boone; parents, Delbert & Jeanette; three brothers, Don Floden, Eugene Dagle, and Leo Dagle;and two sisters, Jean Ann Veach and Lois Goodpasture.
We are comforted knowing that Mary and Marvin are now dancing in heaven “Together Forever.”

Dear Melissa & Mark: I am so sorry for your great loss. Your mother always helped out at Barlow Granger Elementary School when I was the school secretary. We had many good visits at that time, and also we would meet up at the grocery store here in Southridge and visit. I remember her as a great help in the PTA at Barlow Granger School. I am praying that God will grant you peace to ease your heart! Take care. love, Mrs.Ernestine Tindrell
