Margaret O. "Maggie" Fisher

Margaret O. “Maggie” Fisher, 88, passed away peacefully Monday, December 17, 2012.

Maggie was born December 28, 1923, to Peter and Kathryn (Dyer) Colwell in Des Moines, and lived at 1517 Hull Avenue for over 75 years. She graduated from East High School and was an active alumni member. Maggie worked at Plumb’s Jewelry for many years. She loved gardening and spending time in her yard. She and her husband, Allen enjoyed traveling and vacationing at their summer cottage in Minnesota, where many wonderful family memories were made.

Maggie is survived by her sons, Jim (Susan) Fisher and Bill (Shelley) Fisher; grandchildren, Adam Fisher (Ericka Simniok), Jeffery (Stefanie) Fisher, Amanda (Brian) Morgan, and Shannon (Scott) Carlson; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband Allen.

The family will greet friends from 10 to 11:30 a.m., Friday, December 21, 2012, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street. A private burial will take place at the Masonic Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Gardens at Luther Park, where she had lived for the past two years.
