Dorothy Long

A celebration of life for Dorothy Long, 87, of Des Moines, will be held Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 1 to 4 p.m. at Java B Good (inside Boesen the Florist), 38th & Ingersoll in Des Moines. Dorothy died Thursday, June 21, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born January 20, 1920 in Victor, Iowa to Luther and Mary (Bassham) Reedy. She married Perry Long on October 19, 1941. Dorothy was employed by Dahl’s for 36 years.
Following her retirement, Dorothy enjoyed pursuing her favorite activities, such as socializing with her many friends, visiting Prairie Meadows with her daughters and faithfully watching David Letterman every night who, as far as she was concerned, was the only late night television host.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her baby, Linda Joyce; her husband; and nine brothers and sisters. Survivors include, two daughters, Janet Hackenbroch of Volga, Iowa and Bonnie Long of Adel, Iowa; two grandchildren; five great grandchildren; numerous nieces; and many friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Peace Lutheran Church, 3414 Avenue L, Adel, Iowa 50003.
