Margaret "Peggy" Katzenberger
December 15, 2012
Peggy Katzenberger, 77, died suddenly in her home on Saturday, December 15, 2012. Peggy was born on April 8, 1935, in Marion County, Iowa, to Hallie M. (Fletcher) and Ira O. Woolsey.
For 30 years, Peggy managed two careers, both in telemarketing. She would leave her home at 6 a.m. and return at 10 p.m. She loved every moment of those careers, taking an active role in the lives of her co-workers and with those she helped on the phone. Peggy most recently retired from CDS and the Des Moines Register.
Peggy was a fanatic about working out at the Franklin Senior Center and would go there everyday to exercise. Every spare moment she had, Peggy spent in her yard, but her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her great-granddaughters. She was a very private person who had a wind-like energy in all the things she did.
Peggy is survived by her children, Brad Katzenberger, Patty (Andy Leonard) Katzenberger, and Karl (Flo) Katzenberger; granddaughter, Maggie Hicks; great-granddaughters, Corrin and Amber Hicks; brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Woolsey and Frank Woolsey; sisters, Clara (Don) Carter and Catie (Fred) Sher; brother-in-law, Harold O’Brian; sisters-in-law, Jan Woolsey, Bonnie (Galen) Bower, and Shirlie Katzenberger; and many nieces, nephews, beloved friends, and former co-workers.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Faye; parents; siblings, Wilma Hildreth, Mervin Woolsey, Mildred Wendt, Lucy O’Brian, Marilyn Capello, Gordon Woolsey, and Warren Woolsey.
Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with cremation following services. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.

I worked with Peggy, off and on, for many years. She was one of my favorite "customers". She lifted spirits and energized others, just by being herself.

I will always remember grandma Peggy and her endless energy and smile for everything. No matter what she always seemed to have something positive to say for any situation. My weekends with her and Maggie as a child were always an adventure. Thank you for many fond memories grandma Peggy. I just wish I had kept in better touch as I got older and had my own children. I know they would have enjoyed weekend visits with you also. :) you will be missed but not forgotten.

We were shocked to see Peggy's obituary in the paper. As happens so many time, we have neglected to keep in touch. We haven't talked since her Aunt Ethyl Roberts passed. Wayne is Ethyl's son. Peggy was just a joy to be around. We thought of her often and with those thoughts,we would remember her zest for life and her ability to make us laugh. May God bless her and the family.

Grandma Peggy was an absolute amazing woman. I remember on one visit she loved on my daughter Mallory and held her so much. It was a wonderful time with her and will always be remembered. Last I spoke with her she gave me many words of encouragement, she told me to never give up and that all would be well with time. Her memory will live on in all of our hearts.

Peggy was my first boss at CDS. The things she taught me and inspired in me still serve me well everyday, for 20 years now and will always. She made me feel special and that what I did could have a great impact on others. She was a remarkable person and I feel honored to have known her.
