Jeanett Mae Stickfort, 86, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Bishop Drumm Care Center in Johnston. She was born December 1, 1926, to Charles and Gladys (Sturdavant) Welsh in Des Moines.
Jeanett volunteered many hours at Woodlawn Elementary School, reading to the children and helping them with math. She was a long-time member of Douglas Avenue Presbyterian Church, and enjoyed gardening, reading, and watching Jeapardy.
Jeanett is survived by her children, Sheryl (Ernie) Shillak and Kirk Stickfort; grandchildren, Ernie, Josh, Jack, and Gary; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Charles; sister, Wilma Christianson; brother, Charles Welsh; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband, LeeRoy Stickfort, and sister, Helen Barlow.
To honor Jeanett’s wishes, no services will be held, and her body has been donated to Des Moines University.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family which will choose several of Jeanett’s favorite organization to be honored in her memory.

My mother and LeeRoy's mother were sisters. I read about Jeanett's death in the Register.
We will miss corresponding with her at Christmas time. She was always very kind to us and to my mom. She sent many cards and notes for a long time. I know that she also did much volunteer work in Des Moines. She was a special lady, and we will remember her with love.

I worked with Jeanett at the IRS Taxpayer Service department. She was an enjoyable person to work with. Always had a smile.
