Donald E. "Don" Steinbach

Don died Friday, November 30, 2012, from complications of a heart attack following surgery. Don was born May 16, 1930, to Margaret (Evans) and Frank Steinbach in Hiteman, Iowa.

Don and his wife Pauline (McGinn), grew up in Albia, Iowa and were married for 62 years. After moving to Des Moines, Don was employed with Economy Forms, Don’s DX Service Station, and retired from John Deere Des Moines Works.

Don enjoyed long convertible rides, casino and travel excursions with Pauline as well as time with his family.

Don is survived by his wife; his children: Kathleen (Steve) Lee, Paulette (Larry) Ihrig, Alan (Alice) Steinbach, Cindy (Dan) McDonough, Caroline (Scott) Buckroyd, Cheryl (Scott) Temple, Chris Steinbach (Kathy Allen), Claudia (Mark) Van Der Sluis, and Clarice Steinbach (Scott McPherson). Don and Pauline have 19 grandchildren. Don has four surviving brothers: Fred, Frank, Kenny, and Joe.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Donnie, two infant daughters, a granddaughter, a grandson, four sisters, and three brothers.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at All Saints Catholic Church, 650 NE 52nd Avenue, Des Moines, with burial following at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, December 3, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines.
