Ruth McNeeley

Ruth McNeeley, 85, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Trinity Center at Luther Park.

Ruth was born October 18, 1927, in Des Moines, and was a graduate of North High School. She worked for Des Moines Public Schools in food service, Highland Potato Chip Company, and eventually retired from the Thunderbird Bowling Alley. Ruth enjoyed Martha’s Circle and fishing. She loved music, along with singing and being a foster parent.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Mark (Gwen) Speck of Des Moines and Mike Speck of Las Vegas; and her grandchildren, Kirsten, Michael, Emily, Shelby, and Addison Speck. She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald McNeeley; mother, Bessie Sesker; father, Harold Roberts; and her siblings, George Roberts, Roberta Peterson, and Dorothy Fisher.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 6, 2012, at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.
