Dorothy Van Den Baard

Dorothy Van Den Baard, 76, of Des Moines passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Dorothy was born October 16, 1936, in Des Moines to Kenneth and Bertha (Singleton) Barnett.

She grew up in Des Moines and married Norman Van Den Baard in 1954. Dorothy worked 20 years for Archway Cookies.

Dorothy is survived by her three children, Terrie (Tony) Kauzlarich of Pleasant Hill, Thomas (Diana) Van Den Baard of Oskaloosa, and Deborah (Douglas) Twedt of Walker; grandchildren, Matthew (Ashley) Kauzlarich, Stephanie (Michael) Bailey, Melissa (Jeremy) Ramsey, and Samantha and Allison Twedt; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Christine Palmer and Kathleen Barnett; brothers, Kenneth “Butch” Barnett and James Barnett; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Beverly Gardner.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

A visitation will be held from 6-8 pm. Monday, December 3, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the funeral home, with burial at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
