Service Details
Rose Jaquinta, 102, died peacefully at Fleur Heights Care Center in Des Moines, Iowa. Rose was born November 14, 1910, in Boomer, West Virginia, to James and Mary Cortese Jaquinta.
She lived most of her life in the Des Moines area, and retired in 1980 from Jaquinta Food and Grocery after 40 years of service. Rose enjoyed tending her flowers and baking.
Rose is survived by her brothers John and Sam, her sister Teresa Pardekooper, and many nieces and nephews..
A visitation will be held 11:00 a.m.–12:00 noon, Wednesday, December 5, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street, Des Moines. The funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 noon, with burial at Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Park Avenue Presbyterian Church.

I do not know Rose Jaquinta personally, but I do feel a strong connection to her and think of her often. Rose is the woman who used to own my home. She was an Italian woman who grew pears and beautiful flowers and cooked lots of food. She worked at her family's grocery stored and lived on her own till well into her nineties. Even her smell is still alive in my home... to open what I know to be her drawer, you can smell her face powder. I have so many of her things....her dining room set, bedroom set... her resurrection lillies. I know that she LOVED flowers and wanted something blooming all year round. She didn't like change, and never touched her beautiful home. She put nails in any and every place imaginable, as well as locks. I wish I could have met her, but I will continue to honor her memory by taking care of what was once her home. Rest in Peace, Rose.

Her journey has just begun
Life holds many facets
