Mickie Reams

Mickie Reams, 78, passed away at her home Wednesday, November 28, 2012, surrounded by her loving family.

Mickie was born February 2, 1934, in Des Moines, to Albert and Mabel (Gangestad) Sherwood. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Mickie loved spending time with her family, especially her granddaughter, Elizabeth. She was an artist with knitting needles and was always making special gifts for everyone.

Those left to honor and cherish her memory are her husband of 58 years, Marvin; sons, Steven Sherwood Reams and Dan Reams; granddaughter, Elizabeth Reams: her sister and best friend, Sally (Jim) Rash; sister, Annie Milbourn; and several nieces, nephews and other extended family members whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan; brothers, Damon, Bernard, and Louis; and her sister, Arlene.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at Hamilton’s Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a very special thank you to the great medical team who helped us, and especially Dr. Buroker, Michelle, and Pat.
