Service Details
James Edward Parks, 79, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, November 27, 2012. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m., Saturday, December 1, 2012, at Wakonda Christian Church, 3938 Fleur Drive. A visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, also at the church. Jim has donated his body to the University of Iowa Anatomy Department.
Jim was born March 19, 1933, in Des Moines, to George and Dorothy Parks. Jim was a US Air Force veteran and worked as an account executive for Merrill Lynch. Jim enjoyed gardening and golfing, and loved to sing. He helped establish the Lobo Little League in Albuquerque, NM. Jim was a member of the Rotary Club and Wakonda Christian Church.
Jim is survived by his sons, Scott, Todd, and Daniel, one grandchild, Erik, and sister-in-law, Michaeleen Parks. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arlene “Rusty” Parks.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Wakonda Christian Church Youth Endowment Foundation.

Dan: Sorry to hear the news about your dad. I had a good time with him at our Arkansas B.U.G. tour event years ago. I only wish I had more time to hear some of his stories 'cause I'm sure he had plenty. Remember, "Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away". Scott, Todd and Dan: We were sorry to read about Jim's death. We had a former friend who died of Parkinsons so we know what Jim went through. Our best to you guys and the rest of the family. Our prayers are with you.

Jim and I were fraternity brothers (ATO) as well as USAF officers. Jim was a fighter pilot, I was a KB50 navigator. Jim opened his home to many of his Drake friends at the Drake 50 year class reunion. I will miss him. Both Bettye Jo McMartin / Bjorklund & I send our condolences to his family.
