Ardis Dahms

Ardis Dahms, age 85, went to her heavenly home November 23, 2012, surrounded by her adoring family.

She was born in Alcester, South Dakota, to Ruth and William Anderson-Mueller. On October 12, 1947, she married Lester Dahmns. Ardis spent many years practicing in the field of nursing before retiring as a Director of Facilities.

Ardis was an active member of Christ Lutheran Church. She will be remembered for her passion to share Christ with others through mission trips. Ardis loved to cook for her family. She was an excellent seamstress, using her talents through the church group Helping Hands, sewing for anyone in need. She loved to travel with her family, extensively touring the United States and other countries.

She is survived by her daughters, Beverly Thompson and Kathleen Carpenter; brother, Neil Mueller; four grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.

Ardis is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lester Dahms; sister, Marcellette Lier; and other loving family and friends.

A funeral service will be held 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Christ Lutheran Church, 6411 SE 5th Street in Des Moines. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Visitation will occur Tuesday evening from 4-7 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street.
