Elaine Stubbs, 64, passed away Thursday, November 22, at her home in Ankeny. She was born February 16, 1948, in Burlington, Iowa, to Gerald Rosenberger and Pauline Kuehn.
Elaine was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, and participated in a Bible study through Zion Lutheran Church. She was a woman of faith and had a strong desire to help others. Elaine carried out her lifelong passion working as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor at Mercy East. She loved spending time with her family and friends, and attending her grandchildren’s activities.
Elaine is survived by her husband of 32 years, Gary Stubbs; children, Christopher Newberg, Michelle (Jeff) Chiodo, Scot (Amy) Newberg, Jill (David) Trembly, and Jody Stubbs; grandchildren, Tessa, Jasmn, Riley, Alec, Nicholas, Mitchell, Brooklyn, Danyelle, Brock, Donnie, Domonic, Chase, and Zane; siblings, Esther (Cliff) Jones, Evy (Charlie) Sheldahl, and Evan (Mary) Rosenberger; many nieces and nephews; as well as her two cats, Missy and Max. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m., Monday, November 26, 2012, at New Hope United Methodist Church, 4525 Beaver Avenue in Des Moines. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to New Hope United Methodist Church in loving memory of Elaine Stubbs.

Dear Gary & Family, We still cannot believe this is real, still hoping to wake up and that it was all a just a dream. We imagined sharing our grandchildren with you forever! What lucky Grandparents we have been! Everyone will miss Elaine dearly, we did not want to do the Grandparent job without Elaine. Yes, how Blessed we have been to have her for so long, but it still is never enough! Grandma Stubby is with the Lord now, and our grandchildren all have their very own Guardian Angel! When we find ourselves asking God WHY, we must remind ourselves WHY not? This horrible thing called cancer shows no mercy, and doe's not discriminate! It can even rob a baby of a lifetime! You did such a beautiful job of caring for Elaine and she knew how very much she was Loved! We can all take comfort in the fact that she was such a great believer in our precious Lord. We know with no doubt she is reunited with her parents and enjoying eternal peace, no more sickness, no more pain, completely anew in Heaven!! There is also such great comfort knowing we WILL see her again one day! God Bless You with Healing Hearts, and those Precious Forever Memories!! You are in our hearts, heavy on our minds and We Love You! Time can heal a broken heart, but the longer they are away from us the more we miss them, it just doesn't hurt quite so much! May the love of our Lord, family and friends wrap their arms around you and carry you through this terrible loss! Peace be with you! We want to Thank both you & Elaine for being so wonderful to our children and grandchildren, Thank you for loving them!!
