Margie Kautzky, age 92, passed away November 21, 2012, at Westview Center in Indianola. She was born November 29, 1919, in Grey County, Kansas, to Goldie and George Monical.
Margie worked as a registered nurse; she served in the Army during WWII and retired as an Industrial nurse for the Des Moines Register. Margie was a proud member of Mailing Momma’s. She will be remembered for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Jones; grandchildren, Shane Cox and Sara Jones; and brother, Don (Charlotte) Monical. Margie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank Kautzky; son, Kenneth Huffman; and nine siblings.
A celebration of Margie’s life will be held 10 a.m., Sunday, November 25, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines.
Memorial contributions may be directed toward Westview of Indianola, in loving memory of the excellent care Margie received from the staff.

My mother, Merle Keller, was a long time friend and Mailing Momma with Margie. They shared much laughter together. I just want to send my deepest sympathy to Margie's family for your loss. Margie brought so much joy to so many lives. How fortunate you were to have shared her life with her and she with you.

Margie or Nursie (her Register name) was the greatest. Saw her in action with the "mailing mommas" a couple of times. Also, our bowling team of "Simply Awfuls" met up with hers a time or two. Nursie was great fun and will remain in my fond memories.

My heart sank and I was deeply saddened when I heard that Margie had died. I had intentions of going out to see her, but time got away from me and now its too late. Her and Frank were great friends to my grandparents, Doris and Dick Shoning. Im lucky to have grown up with her and Frank in my life. RIP Margie. I hope you have all reconnected in Heaven, bowling and telling dirty jokes. (Bass Hole is HILARIOUS by the way!!!)

Grandma Goldie used to say that my Dad, Russ, and Uncle Ralph would gang up on Aunt Margie when they were kids. Once, after finding a dead and bloated skunk, they talked her into poking it with a stick. Aunt Margie may have had the last laugh since they had to smell her for a week. I remember Aunt Bass Hole for her warmth and sense of humor and the way she cooked crappie, the Cadillac of pan-fish. I will miss her.

Once, when I was a kid, Aunt Margie and Uncle Frank went on a fishing trip to the Ozarks. Aunt Margie sent our family a postcard and signed it "Aunt Bass Hole". That was Aunt Margie! She enriched every life she touched and will be sorely missed.

I have alot of very fond memories of growing up next door to Margie and Frank, Kenny and Kathy. There was alway fun to be had next door. Margie was very dear to me and I'll miss her dearly.
