Barbara Ann Fosnaugh died November 18, 2012, at Taylor Hospice House. She was born in Leon, IA, the daughter of William and Oria Downard. She graduated from East High School in 1943. She was married January 16, 1943, to Kenneth E. Fosnaugh, and they were married 54 years until he passed away May 13, 1996. They were snow birds in Apache Junction, AZ, for nine winters.

Barbara worked her first job at Kresge’s Department store so she could buy her graduation dress which also was her wedding dress. She later worked at Woolworth’s, Taylor’s, Traveler’s Insurance, and retired from Valley National Bank in 1984 after working 18 years as a teller. She loved playing her organ, and played mostly church hymns or Christmas music. She also sang with the “Happy Trail Singers.” Barbara was a member of Park Avenue Christian Church since 1959. In the past year, she wasn’t able to attend but was able to watch the service on the recorded DVDs and enjoyed them each week.

Barbara is survived by her children, Robert (Kathe), Debra (Jimmy) Bacon, and Cathy Strand; grandchildren, Jason (Lacey) Nicolino, Kristina (David Fucaloro) Nicolino, Michael Strand, Nicole (Jose) Tonche, and Stacey Sanger; great-grandchildren, Quincy and Kane Hale, Madyson, Brooklyn, and Karlie Nicolino, Kallie Marker, Kyla, Jerico and Tyler Devilbiss, Madden Strand, and Cecilia and Olivia Fucaloro; and sister-in-law, Delores Downard. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; infant daughter, Shari Rae; sisters, Pauline Smith, Dorothy Shannon, and Louise Jennings, and brothers, William and Richard Downard.

A visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday, November 20, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. A funeral service will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, at Park Avenue Christian Church, 3120 SW 9th Street, with burial following at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. There will be a luncheon following burial in the Fellowship Hall at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor Hospice House, Iowa Health Hospice or Park Avenue Christian Church.
