Danny Raedean Williamson, 73, was born August 16, 1939, in Iowa City, the son of James and Leta Williamson. He passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012, at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines.
Danny proudly served his country during the Vietnam War, retiring from the Air Force.
Danny is survived by his children, Donna (John) Whitehead, David (Karen) Williamson, Donald Williamson, and Dwayne (Christine) Williamson; nine grandchildren; sisters, Linda, Sharon, Kitty, and Penny; brother, Steven; his longtime companion, Ellie Northway; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; and many special friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street. The family will greet friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association in loving memory of Danny.

Danny was my grandfather - Donna is my mother. I will pass along your kind words to her.
Grandpa Danny, I miss you more than I can express. My heart hurts and heals all at once when I think of you. I cannot wait to someday be next to you in the Lord's arms. I love you, Grandpa.

So sad to hear Dan has passed. He and Ellie were our good friends down at Lake Marie. We will surely miss him. Our thoughts are with you all.

We are so sorry for your loss. We only knew your father a few months but had wonderful converstions with him about Lake Marie. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this time.
