Carol Lynch

Carol Elizabeth Wheeler Lynch, 93, passed away Saturday, November 17, 2012, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center. Visitation hours will be Tuesday, November 20, 2012, from 5-7 p.m., followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street.

A mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 3300 Easton Boulevard. Burial will follow at Glendale Cemetery.

Carol was born on December 24, 1918, one of the two children of Clifford Wheeler and Ida (Hurley) Wheeler, in Des Moines, IA She graduated from North High School and finished her education at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, where she eventually became Nursing Supervisor. After graduating from Mercy School of Nursing, she met Donald W. Lynch, and they were married on December 4, 1941.

Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Don, and her sister, Emma (Harold) Gardner of Clinton, IA.

Carol is survived by the family she loved: her nine children, daughters Donna (Lee) Loughry, Deanne (Russ) Prewitt, Kathy (Tom) Haley, all of Des Moines, and sons Dennis (Colleen) Lynch, Fort Dodge, IA, David, Des Moines, Bill (Alma) Lynch, Hartford, IA, Tom, Costa Mesa, CA, Larry (Linda Hesseltine) Lynch, Des Moines, and Terry (Pam Dickey) Lynch, Des Moines. Survivors also include 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family for future consideration.
