Virginia Armentaro

Virginia (Mazzei) Armentaro, died November 10, 2012, at the age of 85. She was born on September 28, 1927, to Joseph and Frances Mazzei in Des Moines, Iowa.

She belonged to several sororities while attending Drake University. She earned her BA Degree and a Masters Degree in education. She taught at McKinley and Park Avenue Schools in Des Moines.

She was a charter member of Christ the King Catholic Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a choir member for more than fifty years.

Virginia married Dominic Armentaro, July 25, 1964.

She is survived by her loving husband of 48 years, and a sister, Helen Marie (Joe) Carmosino. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Marguerite, Elizabeth, and Frances Mazzei; and nephew and niece, Michael and Camille Carmosino.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, November 16, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5711 SW 9th Street in Des Moines. Burial will take place at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will occur Thursday evening from 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th Street in Des Moines, with a 7 p.m. rosary service to be performed.
