Roger Brightman

Roger C. Brightman, 91, of Des Moines, died Sunday, June 17, 2007. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, June 22, 2007 at Hamilton’s Southtown Funeral Home, 5400 SW 9th St. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be held Thursday 6-8 PM at the Funeral Home.
Roger was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. He served his country during WWII serving in the US Army. After his military service he worked for the railroad and later went to work for Wilbert Vault Co. retiring in 1987 after 16 years. He was an avid camper and had a large collection of clocks that was his pride and joy.
Roger is survived by his children, Nancy (Jim) Robbins, Roger William (Cherie) Brightman, Lynn (Jeff) Gezel, Bonnie (Bill) Ober; brother, Harold Brightman of Arkansas; 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-granchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lelia Elizabeth; 3 grandchildren; 1 sister; and 4 brothers.
