Ruby Brown

Ruby Brown, 84, passed away Thursday, November 8, 2012, at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. She was born November 16, 1927, in Adair County, to Max and Lillian Krause.

Ruby was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked as a clerk at Drug Mart for 21 years. She was a charter member of Hope Lutheran Church in Des Moines. Ruby was a longtime member of Iowa Lutheran Hospital Auxiliary and was a devoted volunteer since 1978.

Ruby is survived by her children, Roxan (Greg) Hammer and Robert (Deb) Brown; grandchildren, Emily and Rachel Brown, and Timothy and Sarah Hammer; two great-grandchildren, Everion and Ezhanna; her sister, Judy Storey; and nephew, Justin Storey. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Clarence, and brother-in-law, Jim Storey.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 13, 2012, at Hope Lutheran Church, 3857 E 42nd Street in Des Moines, with burial to follow at Bondurant Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue in Des Moines.
