Helen Lincoln

Helen Lincoln, 101 years, 8 months, died Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Mitchellville Care Center. She was born February 23, 1911, to George and Bessie (North) Lust in Monroe, Iowa.

Helen and her husband, William, farmed in Grinnell, Newton, and Monroe for most of her life. She always enjoyed cooking, including working at The Hut in Mitchellville and other family restaurants.

Helen was an active member of the Mitchellville Christian Church, participating in the women’s group, choir, and the “Kitchen Band.” She was an avid Wheel of Fortune watcher and loved her “Cubbies.”

Helen is survived by her grandson, David Lincoln; great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Matthew) Lacek, W. Scott Lincoln, and Lindsay (Jason) Mishler; great-great grandchildren, Whitney, Noah, and Braiden; and a host of other family and beloved friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William D. Lincoln; son, Gene Lincoln; two brothers; and three sisters.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday November 7, 2012, at Mitchellville Christian Church, 210 3rd Street NW, with burial to follow at Newton Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, at Hamilton’s Mitchellville Funeral Home, 303 Center Avenue South.
