Lucille “Susie” Van Note, 86, passed away peacefully of natural causes after enduring the beginning stages of Alzheimer’s at the Carlisle Center for Wellness and Rehab on November 1, 2012.

Lucille was born on April 11, 1926 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lucille Ruvoldt and Russell Stein. She was a lifelong resident of Des Moines. She worked for Banker’s Trust and Iowa Credit Union League for many years until her retirement. After retiring, Lucille spent her time being a Senior Companion and working with Alzheimer’s patients. She was a past member of Cornerstone Family Church. She also enjoyed reading and drew strength from her religious faith.

Lucille is survived by her children, Jacque Baxter of Grimes and Barri Van Note (Sharil) of West Des Moines; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Russell Stein; and sister, Beverlee Russo.

In agreement with her wishes, Lucille’s body has been gifted to the Des Moines University Body Donor Program for anatomical and surgical study. No services are planned at this time.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Iowa Chapter, 1730 28th Street, West Des Moines, Iowa, 50266 in loving memory of Lucille.
