Easter Violet Cannon

Easter Cannon, 93, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2012, at Sunny View Care Center in Ankeny, Iowa. She was born on April 20, 1919, to Leo and Beulah Mercer in Des Moines, Iowa.

Easter enjoyed ceramics and taught classes for over 20 years. She was strong in her faith and loved Gospel music. She loved spending time with her friends and continued to build new friendships throughout her life.

For the last six months, Easter was residing at Sunny View Care Center and was very involved in numerous activities. She was always happy, well cared for by the nursing staff, and she did not know a stranger.

Easter is survived by her son, Charles Lee (Cindy) Cannon of Ankeny; daughter, Kathleen Kay Cort of Norwalk; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; daughter, Janice Rushing; and her sisters.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, November 3, 2012, at Hartford Cemetery in Hartford, Iowa.
