Thelma Harrington

Thelma A. Harrington, 89, of Ankeny, died Friday, June 15, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center. Thelma was born July 12, 1917 in Houston, Texas. She was a member of Ankeny First United Methodist Church, DAR, and several organizations in Ackley. Thelma loved reading, puzzles, and was the center of attention of her family. She was devoted to her family and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Thelma is survived by her daughters, Reverend Janice Harrington Larson of Havelock, NC, and Nancy (Norman) Miller of Fern Park, FL; her sons, Dale (Linda) Harrington of Ankeny, Jon (Carol) Harrington of Rochester, MN, and Jim (Karen) Harrington of Urbandale; her grandchildren, Debra Oles, Doug De Vries, Catharine Eubanks, Steve Miller, Mike Miller, Carin Arthur, Krista Womble, Allen Harrington, Michael Harrington, Heather Kay, and Cara Harrington Donovan; her sister, Margaret Hill of Ferndale, WA; and 20 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd “Peck” Harrington, her parents, her brother Clifton, her grandchildren Tom and David De Vries, and a great-granddaughter, Sarah Oles.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue with burial to follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Collins. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
