Lloyd Brown

Lloyd William Brown, 86, died on Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Kavanagh House in Des Moines. The funeral service will be Tuesday, October 23, 2012, at 6:00 p.m., at Hamilton’s, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Visitation will be held from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The cremains will be interred in Carroll at a later date.

Lloyd was born August 13, 1926, to Kirk and Helen (Lampe) Brown in Palmer, Ia. He married Helen Ruth Grimsman in 1950, and they farmed in Arispe and Arcadia. They enjoyed polka dancing and were the Iowa Polka King and Queen. During retirement they played cards and socialized in southern Texas. They moved to West Des Moines in 2010.

Lloyd is survived by his wife Helen Brown; sons Richard Brown and Ron (Jan) Brown; daughter, Debra Smith; sisters, Eva Mae Shannon, Betty Jane Ehm, and Patricia Anderson; brother, Eugene Brown; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandchild.
