Gayle Spuehler

Gayle Spuehler, 66, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, October 16, 2012. Gayle was born on July 11, 1946, in Des Moines. She graduated from North High School in 1964. She was a taxi cab driver for many years, and most recently worked for UPS Supply Chain Solutions in Des Moines. Gayle lived many years in Norwalk and enjoyed fishing in Lakewood on the pontoon boat. She loved NASCAR racing, and spent many weekends shopping at flea markets. She enjoyed preparing family feasts and all were welcome at her house on the holidays. Gayle’s house was a place where friends were family.

Gayle is survived by her loving spouse, Mark Gist; brother, Gary (Jan) of Des Moines; children, Deanna (De) of Bayard, Scott (Edna) of Indianola, Wendi (Ryan) of Norwalk, and Jodi (Eric) of Des Moines; grandchildren, Lisa, Ryan, Brandon, and Kyla; great-grandchildren, Blake, Isabella, Preston, and Layla. Gayle was also the parent and grandparent of many children through the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Lucille Ash, and infant son, Troy. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

No funeral services will be held. Friends and family can pay their last respects at the home of her daughter, Wendi, on Saturday, October 20, 2012, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., at 1915 Dorchester Street, Norwalk.
