Gertrude A. Connett, 82, died Tuesday, October 16, 2012, at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House. She was born April 8, 1930, to Roy and Doris (Sumpter) Caldwell in Des Moines.
Gertrude was a member of the Amvets and spent her life taking care of her family. She enjoyed crafts, puzzles, dancing, western movies, and country music.
Gertrude is survived by her children, George Connett, Alma (Richard) Ziebell, Sandra (James) Rossow, Barbara (Michael) Houseman, Robin Connett, and Warren (Mary) Connett; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; siblings, Norma Morris, Marvin Caldwell, Marjorie Sloan, and Judith Moritz; and a host of other family and beloved friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bruce Connett, and children, Judy Green, Sally Connett, and Bruce Connett.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m., Saturday, October 20, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, with burial to follow at Oralabor Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family in loving memory of Gertrude.

Grandma, you always let the ones you loved know they were loved. I know you know we loved you dearly. You lived your life happily and as a free spirit. I will miss you alot. You was right about who we should trust and who to watch out for...lesson leared....grams .... happiness is the key to a long life, dont try to please others , make yourself happy... I love and miss you alot and a greatful we spent that weekend together just u and i. I will treasure the time i got with you always......

To Gert's family:
I am so sorry for your loss. Gert was a friend and neighbor. I will miss her so much. I feel blessed to have had her in my life. May God give all of you strength and comfort at this time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
