Hal E. Finney, 48, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 14, 2012, at his home in Des Moines. He was born November 21, 1963, in Waterloo, Iowa, to Emery and Helen Finney.

Hal graduated from West High School in 1981, and spent 12 years in the Army Reserves in Waterloo and Des Moines. He worked for Swift Packing Plant , co-owned a body shop in Des Moines and was currently working for Goodwin Tucker. Hal had a love for cars and drag racing, but above all else he treasured the time spent with his family.

In addition to his parents, Hal is survived by his loving wife, Kristi; sons, Anthony Finney, Michael Hall, and Travis Hall, all of Des Moines; grandchildren, Baylee, Emilee, Evelyn, and Bryson; sister, Lindy (Jim) Kerns of Waterloo; brothers, Gary (Ruth) Finney of Cedar Rapids, and Lonny Finney and Blair (Cindy) Finney, both of Waterloo; numerous nieces and nephews; other loving relatives; and many special friends.

A visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, October 19, 2012, at Hamilton’s near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at River’s Edge Christian Church, 1247 Cedar Bend Street, Waterloo, Iowa, with burial to follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery. Friends may also visit with family from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, at the church in Waterloo.
